When Alfredo Gianotti died nobody was able to get ahead with his workshop. His pupil, Eugenio Meli developped his proper workshop and his customers; there were not other pupils with him.
Sisters and brothers inherited his tools, his workbench, his gouges, his secret of varnish and a certain number of own violins, violas and cellos that Alfredo Gianotti considered of high best quality.
How could all this worth of knowledge, culture, tradition and ability die?
Ten years later a nephew put the relatives together and created the foundation.

All instruments of the family had been identified and classified in the database.

The aims of the foundation are:
· to reassemble the entire production of Alfredo Gianotti
· to maintain the value of his name all around the world
· to recover, safeguard and make valuable all instruments
· to collect any news and documents concerning his production
· to permit the exchange of different experiences among the players of his instruments
· to promote violinmaking art and contribute to spread its knowledge
· to build up the community of Alfredo Gianotti instruments' owners.

President and Vice-President of the foundation are respectively the sisters alive, Albina, born in 1923, and Pia, born in 1930, who are also members of the Governing Board with Giuliano Gianotti, Mario Gianotti and Eligio De Ponti, nephews.

Once a year a concert will take place in a beautiful place in Italy with some of the instruments; programs will be illustrated in the section 'events'.

In order to activate the initiative and to reach the aims, the foundation grants and donations are to be received on the following address:
